Résumé : The industrial revolution, a major turning point in human history, witnessed drastic changes in the way we produce, work, and live. At the dawn of the 18th century, Western Europe became the stage for a radical transformation as the first sparks of the industrial revolution began to ignite. This revolution, characterized by the introduction of mecha nized technologies and the transition to mass production methods, laid the foundations for the modern industrial society. The evolution of the industry has not stagnated since then. On the contrary, it has continued to develop and transform, with the advent of Industry 4.0 marking a new era in the history of industrial production. At the heart of this transformation are smart factories, highly automated and connected production facilities that integrate cutting edge technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and Big Data to optimize manufacturing processes. The relationship between smart factories and Industry 4.0 is deep and symbiotic. While Industry 4.0 represents a comprehensive vision of the digitization of industry, smart factories are its concrete embodiment. They embody the principles of Industry 4.0 by implementing autonomous systems, interconnected manufacturing processes, and real time data analytics to enhance efficiency, flexibility, and quality in production. This evolution towards smart factories is made possible by technological advances in areas such as automation, robotics, smart sensors, and advanced control systems. These technologies enable factories to quickly adapt to changes in demand, customize production to meet individual customer needs, and optimize available resources to reduce costs and minimize waste. Furthermore, smart factories offer new opportunities for innovation and collabora tion across the entire value chain. By integrating real-time communication systems with suppliers, partners, and customers, these facilities enable closer coordination and better management of the logistics chain, thereby fostering greater agility and adaptability to market changes. In this perspective, it is essential to explore how smart factories continue to shape the future of industry and society as a whole. By understanding the implications of this ongoing technological revolution, we can better grasp the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead and position ourselves to make the most of this new era of industry
