Résumé : This is a study carried out at the laboratory of Advanced Materials and Applications in order to extract an important property of a polyelectrolyte wich is Polyacrylic acid (PAA). In fact, this property is a result by increasing the pH of the medium that contains PAA. Experimental work involved preparing PAA solutions at varying pH levels and concentrations. The results of the experiment carried out show that the viscosity of PAA in aqueous solutions increases by increasing in the pH range, this can be attributed to the ionization of the carboxylic acid groups. In the other hand, by increasing mass fractions (concentrations) of PAA the viscosity increases, this is as a result of increased higher number of polymer molecules.
